The Venedocia Lions Club embarks on two main fund raising ventures to fund an extensive list of projects. These ventures are the annual Pancakes & Sausage Day and the Sausage Sandwich Trailer.
Pancakes & Sausage Day
The first Venedocia Lions Pancakes & Sausage Day was held in 1969. The annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes & Sausage Day is held on the third Saturday in March at the Lions Building in Venedocia. Both the pancakes and the sausage patties are all you can eat, along with sauerkraut and applesauce served family style. White & chocolate milk, orange drink, and coffee are the beverages served.

History
The club is well-known for its fresh pork sausage sandwich trailer that frequents many events in the Van Wert area. The Venedocia Lions Sausage Trailer evolved from many positive comments about the wonderful taste of the fresh pork sausage patties at the annual Pancakes & Sausage Day. Area residents thought the club should take this show on the road. And so, they did. In 1994, under the direction of Donald Richards & Jerry Koenig, the Venedocia Lions Fresh Pork Sandwich Sausage Trailer made its debut. Since 1994, the club estimates that they have served over 450,000 sandwiches!
Menu
We offer single, double, and triple fresh pork sausage patty sandwiches, with optional egg and/or cheese. As you might guess, the sausage-egg-cheese sandwich combo is a customer favorite. Our menu also includes an egg sandwich. An extensive "buffet" of self-serve condiments is available with sandwich purchase. The club also offers various bottled soft drinks, bottled water, and coffee for purchase.

The sausage trailer events for the year normally include the Lincolnview PTO Carnival, Van Wert Peony Festival, Salem Presbyterian Ice Cream Social, Van Wert County Township Association Summer Meal, Huggy Bear St Jude Benefit, Van Wert County Fair, Huggy Bear Halloween Event, and Van Wert Apple Festival.

We provide sandwiches to events both when our trailers are on-site and also without having our operation on-site. Some events may not have the necessary trailer space, the required electrical hook-up, or the event is small enough to not warrant transporting the trailers to the location.
For sandwich only events, we generally do not provide egg, cheese, condiments, or beverages. The hosting venue provides their choice of condiments for these events. Trailer events are noted on the Events Schedule, along with hours of operation.
Past Events
The trailer has also participated in other various events such as the Times Bulletin Garage Sale, Van Wert Relay for Life, Old Fashioned Farmers Days, Farm Focus, Van Wert Hot Air Festival, Delphos Relay for Life, Van Wert County DARE Fishing Derby, Community Health Professionals luncheons, Jon Amundson Memorial Antique Tractor Ride, Lincolnview Basketball Pre-Game Meal, Van Wert Peony Festival, and several United Way campaign kickoff and fund raising events.
Event Request
We entertain event requests by written application that are submitted at least 2 months prior to the event. This allows sufficient time to present, discuss, and vote, as a club, on the request at the next regularly scheduled club meeting. We then notify the applicant of the club vote. Upon a majority affirmative vote, we add the event to our schedule and proceed to plan to prepare the trailer, secure workers, and order supplies. The Event Request Form contains more information.

For some events, we enlist the help of other groups to help in the trailer. We are currently seeking a partner group or groups to assist us during several events. The help is appreciated during the Van Wert County Fair, due to the extensive hours the trailer is in operation. Help is also needed when some club members, who are also farmers, are in the fields and unable to help. We have also enlisted help from fellow area Lions Club members and members from some of the groups that we assist. The Venedocia Lads & Lassies 4-H Club members are the Pancakes & Sausage Day helpers.
